It’s very simple to set up and use, and it works fine. With this device, we are able to connect a PC laptop to a 10-year old TV monitor and watch as many FREE streaming Netflix movies on our TV screen as we want.

I never write reviews – but I guess it is never too late to start. I purchased this to use with my new Macbook 17″ notebook and Serato Video SL. I needed to convert the digital feed from the computer to analog. This little convertor is great and easy to use – I convert to either RCA or S-video with no problems.

Built my HTPC before I had a flat screen to drive with it so bought this to continue to use my analog TV in the meantime. I looked at a bunch of cheap scan converters for $20-40 with all those configuration buttons and complaints about quality. This one works out of the box without any configuration, poof you have a clear computer output on your TV.
A little clipping on the outer edges of the bezel, but that is to be expected and there is an underscan option to minimize that. For Hulu and DVDs though it is not an issue and the TV output is flawless. I think it looks better than the digital tv converter box I have hooked up to it.

My new laptop did not have the svideo port that my older TV uses. Solution: Use the laptop’s VGA port and connect to a VGA to S-Video converter. Almost bought the Startech but the price and features cause me to look further. Bought the full-featured PC2TV converter at [...]. Just go to their web site and search for VGA converters or go to: [...]
The PC2TV adapter produces a sharp picture at resolutions up to 1600×1200, has outputs for s-video and just about all the other formats, includes ALL the cables, has a bunch of adjustments that can be saved, a remote control, and great support (I contacted them and got a quick, helpful reply). All this for a lot less than the Startech.
