My god man, old school approach. You need the AirPlayer (DLNA server) application for iPad and then stream direct. Your Samsung has DLNA support built in and you’ll get full resolution dependent upon the media on your iPad.
Seriously, who messes with cables in this age?

too much damn work.
Apple should just be smart and have a connector from iPad to HDMI.

Oh all those cables DLNA that’s all I can say

Do not get the atlona vga to hdmi adapter. The iPad or iPhone 4 will not recognize VGA connection to it!

@5botball The iPad outputs video through the VGA connection at 1024 x 768. The SW-9393 (VGA to HDMI converter) upscales that resolution to 720p (1280 x 720) we also have the SW-29073 which also does VGA to HDMI but upscales the image to 1080p (1920 x 1080). So with either of those VGA to HDMI converters you will get a better picture than just straight VGA and will make it so that the picture fills the full screen of the TV without stretching it funny.

Is there a noticeable difference between using straight vga vs. Using a hdmi converter? Thanks

U guys are awsome
September 26th, 2010 at 2:32 am
@teknic111 We haven’t yet found a direct connection from the iPad dock to HDMI
September 26th, 2010 at 2:33 am
@BILLYBOBMANTARAY If you can go direct (VGA to VGA in your case), then that will give you the best picture. This converter is for when VGA isn’t an option (many TVs now no longer have VGA inputs).

So there’s no dock port to hdmi adapter available?
September 26th, 2010 at 3:57 am
@5botball HDMI

I have a 70 inch samsung tv. It has all connections. VGA, hdmi, composite, component. Which one should I get fornmaximum quality and maximum screen coverage. Thanks
September 26th, 2010 at 5:24 am
@v6greenfbird95 thanx for the info…ya I’m just using it as a HTPC so I’m never really that close to the screen as you are using it as your monitor…good to know
September 26th, 2010 at 5:49 am
@BILLYBOBMANTARAY Yes but its dependent on what you are doing as to if it will make a big difference, for example my desktop is hooked into my 42inch 1080p because of the size the small artifacts from the vga cable are noticable, on a 32 inch you likely wont notice any difference. Also if I do a duel monitor setup one hdmi one vga the vga actually lags behind the hdmi. Colors seem more crisp on hdmi as well but there again it depends on what you are doing

my laptop is connected to my 1080p 32″ TV using just VGA…and it looks perfect at full 1080p…..is there some advantage to this convoluted system rather than just going straight to the VGA on the back of the TV ?

With the update that came out yesterday for the Netflix app on the iPad it now supports video out which means it will work perfectly for this setup!
