It’s a VGA to displayport adapter, it works, what else is there to say?
Well, the size of the thing for one. Because of the lack of a dongle on the adapter, using it will likely block neighboring ports on your video card. If you just want to use one old vga monitor with the displayport out on your new video card, you’ll be fine. But if you’ll still want access to any of the neighboring outputs on your videocard next to the displayport, then you should get something else because this will block them.

i dont have a VGA port on my computer, which makes connecting up to my monitor a pain. this is a simple solution withought having to buy an expensive convertor. works fine with my 20in monitor at 1440X900 resolution.

I purchased this to support running more than one 22″ wide screen monitors off of my new DELL E-Series docking station.. The docking station only supports a single VGA connection, but sports dual DVI-D and dual Displayport connections. Since displayport is an open technology, this adapter was less expensive than a DVI-D to analog VGA converter.
Works well and there’s no distinguishable difference in both monitors (one connected through VGA, one connected through the Displayport to VGA, especially after both monitors were color calibrated with a Datacolor Spyder.
i would recommend this product for solving this conversion problem.

It was flawless for the first few weeks, running a 3rd 1080p display off a Radeon 5870. I could not tell the difference in quality between the D-SUB connection from this and the DVI on an identical screen next to it. Unfortunately, less than a month after receiving this, I powered on my computer and the screen using this adapter was off and not receiving a signal. I checked all the connections and eventually, after several plug reseatings, it worked for one more day. The next day it failed to start again and never came back, and will not work in my brother’s Radeon 5870 either. I had to instead put an old graphics card in my second PCI-E slot to use a 3rd display, which means I have lost my ability to use Eyefinity!
Other people seem to be having better luck with this. I may consider buying another in the future if no better alternatives appear. At least it was cheap!
