Review by Martin Greenberg for 3ft VGA to 3 RCA component video cable (HD15 – 3-RCA)
Rating:
I wanted a cable so I could connect my laptop, with a VGA port, to my HDTV, which is a remake of an older model that had a VGA port right on it. Too bad the remake did away with such a handy thing to have. I though that it would be nice to see if I could find either a VGA to HDMI cable or a VGA to component cable. My TV only has one HDMI port, so I opted for the latter. I looked around for a VGA to component cable, and found one at Radio Shack…for 70 dollars. Way too much. I always turn to Amazon for cheap cables, so that’s where I looked. Much to my surprise, I found a cheap cable (this one) that was way below what I though it would be. I promptly bought it. I happily plugged it in. Showed video for a split second before it stopped working.
Got it replaced. Still didn’t work.
Tried other devices with it. Still didn’t work.
Tried the cable with other TVs. Still didn’t work.
Tried my laptop with a VGA-VGA cable on a friend’s TV with a VGA input to verify that the output port on my laptop was functional. It worked fine.
For the price, I don’t really care as much as if a 70 dollar cable hadn’t worked. Still, I expect products to work, and I will expect my money back.
